new inventions

1879 is known as the year of the light bulb invented by thomas edison. compaired to the hundereds of light bulbs that exist today (2010) carbon was used rather than tungsten. three years later the invention of christmass lights had benn the first idea of the lights we see today around christmass time. In 1876 Alexander Graham Bell made the first telephone which have none of the capibilities of the telephones today, like how we can see whos calling and even the simplist thing of getting a message was not available.if it wernt for the many brilliant people in the early and late 1800s the many luxaries such as toilet paper, telephone, matches, automobile and many many more would not be so available today.

rise of modern machines

One example of how technology made working life easier in the early 1900's was the way factories became much more efficient with the invention of electricty. In 1909 there was a boom in triangle factories, over 500 were in operation in New York city alone. triangle factories were usually very loud and the working evironments dim and dinghy but work was done quickly. Every thing from th sewing machines to the telephone ran off of electricty.
